MONTREAL — After being disqualified from Race 1, Rodin Motorsport and Kick Sauber-backed driver Emma Felbermayr bounced back in a major way by winning Race 2 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, which was her first career win in F1 Academy.

“It was just an amazing feeling to finally get the job done after having so many attempts before, but now I have the win,” Felbermayr told F1Academy.com. “It was an eventful last lap, but I got it done into Turn 8, so I’m super happy about that.”

Ella Lloyd and Nina Gademan rounded out the podium after a one-lap dash to secure a top-three finish.

Felbermayr Takes First Win

Before Lights Out

Doriane Pin won Race 1 as it helped the Frenchwoman take the championship points lead.

Emma Felbermayer crossed the line in second but received a disqualification after her car was found underweight. Ella Lloyd and Nina Gademan took the official podium in second and third, respectively.

Race 2 followed the original F1 Academy Race 1 format after the rescheduled Miami Race. This means the top-eight qualifiers had a reverse grid.

Chloe Chong started on the pole, with Gademan in second and Felbermayr in third. Rafaela Ferreira received a five-place grid penalty for this race after rejoining the track unsafely, which took Chong out of Race 1.

After Lights Out

Ella Lloyd got a better start, getting ahead of Emma Felbermayr. Chloe Chong got a good start as well, keeping her spot at the front of the field. However, Nina Gademan took the lead from Chong.

To make things worse for the Charlotte Tilbury-backed driver, Lloyd immediately took second from Chong as the Rodin Motorsport driver fell to third. Chong briefly found herself on the grass, costing her more positions.

Lloyd tried to defend against Felbermayr as the Kick Sauber-backed driver took second. Race 1 winner, Doriane Pin, briefly joined the fight for second.

As the Frenchwoman tried to take third from Lloyd, Chloe Chambers got next to Pin but backed out. Chambers’ teammate, Alisha Palmowski, joined the battle, changing the battle from third to fourth.

Pin was able to make some distance away from Chambers, as the PREMA Racing driver tried to make a move on Lloyd for second. Alba Larsen took the fastest lap on Lap 4. Chambers found herself off track on Lap 5, but made her way back to the track in 14th place.

Then, Chambers tried to overtake Pin but spun out and made her way to the grass. Gademan took the fastest lap on Lap 6.

Battles On Battles

Alba Larsen made a move on Alisha Palmowski for fifth and was able to hold on to it. Doriane Pin tried to get ahead of Ella Lloyd but had a brief lock-up, which took her and Lloyd out of the track limits.

Nina Gademan got a black and white flag for track limits as Pin was told to give the position back. She ultimately gave the position on Lap 9.

Aurelia Nobels passed Maya Weug and was able to hold on to eighth on Lap 9. Larsen and Pin made small contact, giving Lloyd breathing room.

Weug was able to take back her place from Nobels; however, as Nobels tried to retake eighth, she and Weug made contact.

Both cars were able to make it back to the track. Weug ended the battle in ninth, and Nobels fell back to 13th.

Rafaela Ferreira retired from the race in the pits on Lap 12. Once again, Pin tried to take on Lloyd and had to back off after locking up and taking to the run-off. Pin was told to give back the position and did it on Lap 12.

Teammate Contact

Alba Larsen tried to make a move on Doriane Pin as Nicole Havrda made contact with her teammate Aiva Anagnostiadis. This incident caused a Safety Car in Havrda’s home race, which halted battles from third to sixth place.

Havrda was penalized after the race for this incident. She was given a three-place grid penalty for Race 3.

The race restarted with one lap to go. Nina Gademan led the pack, as Larsen did not have a good restart, with Pin putting pressure on her.

Emma Felbermayr was able to catch Gademan for the lead as she made the move and took the lead. Ella Lloyd was able to catch up as she took second, leaving Gademan in third.

Felbermayr cut the last corner as she crossed the start/finish line to take the checkered flag for her first F1 Academy victory.
